BMW was one of the first manufacturers to deliver an economical yet stylish electric vehicle that was just at home on the motorway as it was around town and the i3, first introduced in 2013, has had eight years to evolve into the current model which is both innovative and fun to drive.
The BMW i3 Hire has a single electric motor supplying 168bhp from the 37.9kWh battery, which gives it a range of over 160 miles. Electric power means that, around town, instant acceleration helps the i3 to move through gaps in traffic with confidence and ease.
That doesn’t mean, however, that the i3 is restricted to use over short journeys; on a motorway the well-developed suspension makes journeys relaxed and comfortable, especially when you take advantage of the considerable infotainment options provided in the stylish cabin.

Two large screens feature on the dashboard with one ahead of the driver for car instrumentation and one in the centre of the of the dashboard controlling infotainment. Sat-Nav, DAB radio, Bluetooth and other media and music functions are all controlled via a dial on the centre console. Even though the interior is packed with technology it still feels spacious and light thanks to the low dashboard and wide windscreen.
