CAN I RENT FOR 1 DAY OR LESS?
Unfortunately not. All our vehicles are subject to a minimum 2 day rental charge.
It is possible for the rental duration to be 24hrs or less however the minimum charge will always be at least 2 days.
HOW OLD DO I NEED TO BE TO HIRE A VEHICLE ON SELF DRIVE?
It varies from vehicle to vehicle, please check the individual minimum age requirement detailed on each vehicle page.
Maximum age is 70 across the fleet
With all our vehicles, if you dont quite meet the minimum age requirement, please contact us first and we can approach our insurers on a case by case basis for you.
IF THE LEAD DRIVER MEETS THE REQUIRED MINIMUM AGE CAN AN ADDITIONAL DRIVER BE YOUNGER?
Unfortunately no. All drivers named on the rental agreement have to meet the minimum age requirement for the vehicle in question.
DO YOU OFFER HOME DELIVERY & COLLECTION?
Yes! For all booking durations our delivery experts will drop your chosen vehicle to your specified destination and collect from the same place at the agreed end date/time. We only stipulate that the delivery address is the same as your driving licence and the same address is linked to your payment card. Please enter your postcode when promted and select your address from the drop down list. The system will generate the delivery & collection quote that will be added to the rental fee at checkout. There is of course no charge should you choose to collect & return from/to us...!
DOES YOUR INSURANCE COVER ALL POSTCODES IN THE UK?
We are in the hands of our insurance providers on this.
Our insurers have to be notified of client postcodes, they then input this data into their system that highlights crime stats for the area.
If an area has a record of substantial vehicle crime, they will not allow the vehicle to be delivered. I.e. they will not provide the cover.
You will be notifed within 3 to 5 working days should our insurers be unable to provide cover. Should our insurance provider refuse cover, you will be issued a full refund immediately.
WHAT CREDIT CARDS DO YOU ACCEPT?
We accept all major credit cards including AMEX!
WHAT ARE THE TESLA SUPERCHARGER FEES?
All the Tesla's listed on our platform include free unlimited supercharging. The only time there would be a fee due is if we are charged any idle fees by Tesla for customers who overstay at the Tesla Superchargers.
ARE THERE ANY OTHER CHARGES OTHER THAN THE RENTAL FEE?
Simple answer is No. Once you have chosen your required extras and proceeded to checkout, the price quoted is the all inclusive price. All our quoted prices are inclusive of VAT and insurance. We don’t charge booking fees. The only other charge required is the excess pre-authorisation which varies depending on your chosen vehicle. This is a temporary hold on a specified amount against the available funds on your payment card. Please note - this is not an actual charged amount and no funds are taken.
WHAT IS AN EXCESS PRE-AUTHORISATION?
This is a short-term hold of a pre-agreed amount against the available balance on your credit card. Please note - this is not an actual charged amount and no payments are charged.
Your credit card provider may present a pre-authorisation transaction as “pending”.
What are the implications of this?
- Once your reservation has been confirmed and the booking fee has been paid, depending on your preferred method chosen to process the excess pre-authorisation during the booking stages, we will either wait until 24hrs before you start your rental before we call you on the telephone number you provided to process transaction or we will process this in person when you collect your vehicle. We will put a temporary pre-authorisation hold, this amount varies depending on your chosen vehicle against the available balance on your payment card. If the booking is less than 24hrs away, this temporary hold will be placed at the time of booking in person.
- When you complete your rental and return the vehicle undamaged, the pre-authorisation funds will be released by your card issuer.
- Depending on your credit card provider, it can sometimes take up to 14 working days before this is reflected back into your credit card’s available balance. This is out of our control.
Please note – even though a pre-authorisation transaction is not a physical charge, it will briefly reduce the available balance on your credit card.
WHAT IS THE DVLA CODE?
In the UK, car rental companies are legally required to check your full driving licence. As part of the online booking process, we need to verify your driving licence with the DVLA. This is free to do and only takes 2 minutes to provide us with the one time use DVLA access code.

Enter your details You will need:
- Your Driving Licence number
- Your National Insurance number
- The Postcode on your Driving Licence
- Generate your check code - Enter this code when requested during the booking process
I HAVE PENALTY POINTS ON MY LICENCE. CAN I STILL HIRE ONE OF YOUR VEHICLES?
Must have less than 6 points on your licence. If you have more than 6, give us a call to discuss before you book online. We can approach our insurers on a case by case basis.
WHAT DRIVING REQUIREMENTS DO I NEED TO BE ABLE TO HIRE ONE OF YOUR VEHICLES?
Depending on the vehcile you will have to have held a driving license for more a minimum of 5 years
Driving licence must originate from the UK or the E.U
No involvement in more than one accident or insurance claim over the previous 3 years.
Must have less than 6 points on your licence. If you have more than 6, give us a call to discuss.
If you have an international licence, please contact us beforehand.
DO YOU OWN THE VEHICLES LISTED ON YOUR SITE?
We offer both our own vehicles and those subcontracted to us via our Trusted Partners.

WHAT FORMS OF IDENTITY ARE ACCEPTABLE TO HIRE A CAR FROM EV HIRE?
Once you have made your booking online, you will be invited to log onto your EVHIRE account and upload the following:
- Copy of Drivers Licence (For all drivers)
- DVLA Check Code (For all Drivers)
- 2x Utility Bills matching address on Driving Licence (For main driver)
We also strictly enforce the following:
- Payment card registered to same address as Driving Licence
- Delivery address MUST match address on Driving Licence
Without the above documentation on file for us to review, we cannot proceed with the booking
CAN I EXTEND MY RENTAL TERM?
It is possible to extend assuming we have the fleet availability. Please call our office to arrange this.
DO YOU OFFER SECURE PARKING FOR MY CAR FOR THE DURATION OF THE RENTAL?
Yes! Please let us know if you require a parking space inside our storage facility for the duration of your hire. This is of course free of charge
CAN I/WE SET UP A BUSINESS ACCOUNT?
Yes, of course, please call our Head Office and we will be happy to discuss with you your requirements. Usual credit checks will apply.
HOW DO WE CHARGE THE TESLA?
Most of our customers find it easier to simply use the superb free Tesla Supercharging network to get around and never need to think about overnight charging. We do however provide all the cables and adaptors you will ever need to charge in all types of scenarios.
DO YOU HAVE NO SMOKING & NO PET POLICY?
In short, Yes. As per our standard Terms of Business, we do not allow any smoking of any kind (including e-cigarettes/Vapes) in any of our vehicles at any times.
Likewise, we unfortunately cannot allow your much loved pets to ride along with you due to the Premium Interior specification of all our vehicles. As much as we love animals, we do need to uphold the immaculate presentation of our Premium Vehicles. Pet fur & odor makes this difficult.
Failure to adhere to these strict polices would put your excess deposit at risk.

DO YOU HAVE A FUEL POLICY?
Yes, evhire operate “Full to Full” / “As Rented” policy that applies as the standard fuel policy.
This means that if you return the vehicle with less fuel than was noted at handover at the initial pick-up time, you will be charged for the cost of the missing fuel plus the applicable service charge of 25 GBP.
For the purposes of calculating the cost of fuel we apply prices per litre based on those published by petrolprices.com
CAN I REDUCE MY EXCESS?
Unfortunately not. We do not offer any form of Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) / Excess Waiver
