By now you should know that EVHire is the top destination to hire a Tesla Model X P100D – We have a very highly specified car that can be hand delivered to you for your unlimited mileage hire and features the very latest updates from Tesla.
In addition to that, it is also well known that Tesla make cars that really stand out from the rest of the automotive world. As well as their falcon doors, impressive straight-line performance and range they can also come with other ground-breaking technologies, such as Autopilot. However, what is even more impressive is that Tesla’s come with hardware that allows them to receive over-the-air updates but what does this mean in real-world terms if you’re looking to experience a Tesla?
As car enthusiasts, we are so used to taking our cars apart in our own garages and driveways or eventually to a ‘proper’ garage in order to improve them in some way. Even if you aren’t into body kits and rocket launcher sized exhausts, you may still want to optimise the performance or running of your pride and joy. The good thing about Tesla, is that the can be optimised and improved upon with little more than an active wifi connection (this will of course all be done by the time you receive the car).
The Verge recently wrote an article on the upcoming updates I will shortly mention and their working title was:
‘Tesla is what happens when you run a car company like a tech company’
This quote really seems to sum up the harmony between hardware and software that Tesla have managed to achieve. An over-the-air software update can improve things that are purely software based, such as: the navigation system, media player and general controls and settings. These updates surely improve the daily ease of use, but is it all Tesla can update? Certainly not!
The upcoming update, which will be installed on the EVHire Tesla Model X, will have at least 2 very intriguing features. The first will upgrade the Tesla app based ‘summon’ function. It is known simply as ‘advanced summon’ and will supposedly enable the car to autonomously navigate around car parks, utilising its full range of autopilot cameras. This will be assisted by a new road sign reading ability, provided by Tesla’s enhanced neural network. Essentially, Mr Musk and his team are aiming to enable their cars to drive themselves around a car park, accurately interpreting road signs, in order to find an appropriate empty space.
The second update is targeted to the autopilot system. There has been a lot of confusion around Tesla’s autopilot, but what you must remember, is that it is essentially just an intelligent cruise control system...currently. This feature can be enabled on a motorway by simply pulling the bottom left stalk in twice. A beep is heard, the lines on the display ahead turn blue and the cars takes control of itself, but even so, it’s best to keep a watchful eye.
The second part of the update will enhance this capability by integrating the car’s satnav. This means, hypothetically, once you have entered a destination into the satnav, the car will be able to ‘drive itself’ (with that watchful eye we mentioned before) along motorways, by being able to manoeuvre onto and off them, adjust to building or reducing traffic and change lanes.
These are both exciting updates that you’ll be able to take advantage of when you hire a Tesla model X from EVHire!
