Tesla Model 3 Performance Beats Archie Hamilton's 2022 Audi RS3 in Drag Race
EV Hire’s Tesla Model 3 Performance Hire was recently put up against the brand-new 2022 Audi RS3 of popular automotive YouTuber and ex-Le Mans driver Archie Hamilton in a drag race.
Archie had taken delivery of the Audi RS3 only days before and the vehicle arrived at the airfield drag strip completely unmodified. Up against a 2020 Audi RS6 in the first of the day’s races, the RS3 showed its potential and convincingly beat the RS6 in both standing- and rolling-start races.
However, against the Tesla Model 3 Performance, Archie’s new RS3 just could not compete. The advantage of the instant torque from the Tesla on the standing start meant that, despite the best efforts of R44 Performance’s Rhys Herd, at the wheel of the Audi RS3, the Tesla was comfortably quickest over the two races.
From a rolling start, there was a suggestion that the torque advantage of the Tesla Model 3 Performance would be negated but yet again the Audi RS3 fell back as the Model 3, driven by ex-Porsche Carrera Cup GB racer Archie, powered down the runway.
“The Tesla Model 3 is just rapid!” said Archie Hamilton. “It surprised me at just how fast it is because we know that the RS3 just beat the RS6. It’s just the instant torque! It throws you back in your seat!”
