Tesla and Zoom Announce Partnership

Tesla and Zoom Video Communications, the world’s largest provider of videotelephony and on-line chat services, have announced a partnership whereby the Zoom meetings app will be available in Teslas for occupants to use while parked.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk has been keen to include a Zoom capability in his vehicles since at least 2020 when, in a tweet, he commented that it was ‘definitely a future feature.’
With legislation tightening up around the globe on the use of mobile phones while driving, both Tesla and Zoom have clarified that calls will only be able to received or sent while the vehicle is parked. For drivers making stops of up to an hour at a Tesla Supercharger, the ability to make productive use of that time will be welcomed.

The announcement outlining the partnership between Tesla and Zoom was made at the 2022 Zoomtopia conference. Zoom Group Product Manager Nitisha Walia commented that the video conferencing feature “will come as standard on all new Tesla models shortly.”
“You’ve been zooming from your home, your office and even your TV,” said Nitisha Walia. “We’re going to make it even easier for you to zoom from anywhere.”
It is yet to be announced whether the new functionality will be available via a software upgrade or if additional hardware will be required. No timetable has been revealed as to when the Zoom app will be available in Teslas.
