Polestar Announces Premiere Date For New Polestar 3
Polestar has announced details for the world premiere of its new vehicle, the electric performance Polestar 3. The company’s first SUV will be launched in October 2022.
In its launch vehicle specification, the Polestar 3 will feature a dual-motor drivetrain with a battery that is intended to provide a range of over 370 miles.
The Polestar 3 will be available to order from the day of the premiere with production due to begin in early 2023. Manufacturing facilities for the Polestar 3 have been established in the United States and China.
The company, which was established in 2017 and founded by Volvo and Chinese automaker Geely, plans to launch a new car every year for the next three years and aims to have a presence in at least 30 global markets by the end of 2023. Polestar has stated that it intends to build 290,000 vehicles a year by the end of 2025.
“Polestar 3 is the SUV for the electric age,” said Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath. “Our design identity evolves with this high-end large luxury SUV, with a strong, individual brand character. With this car, we bring the ‘sport’ back to the SUV, staying true to our performance roots.
“This is a major milestone for our company, one that boosts our growth trajectory and takes us into the next phase.”
It is planned that the Polestar 3 will, over time, offer autonomous driving using a best-in-class LiDAR sensor from Luminar.
