NISSAN ANNOUNCES 2030 EV AMBITIONS

Nissan, the world’s sixth largest motor vehicle manufacturer by volume, has announced its plans to move towards an electric future.
The Yokohama-headquartered company unveiled its ‘Nissan Ambition 2030’ blueprint on November 29 which will see the introduction of 23 new electrified vehicles, including 15 new EVs, by the end of the decade.
“The role of companies to address societal needs is increasingly heightened,” said Nissan CEO Makoto Uchida. “With Nissan Ambition 2030, we will drive the new age for electrification and advance technologies to reduce (the company’s) carbon footprint and pursued new business opportunities.
“We want to transform Nissan to become a sustainable company that is truly needed by customers and society.”
Alongside the launch of new vehicles, Nissan also intends to develop its proprietary all-solid-state-batteries (ASSB) which the company claims will reduce charging times by over 60% and bring the cost of battery packs down to $75 per kWh within seven years. Nissan’s objective is to achieve cost parity between EVs and ICE-powered cars in the future.
Nissan’s goal is to be carbon-neutral across the life cycle of all its products by 2050. The company’s newest EV, the Ariya, an electric crossover performance vehicle, is due to be available in the UK in early 2022.
