Since EV HIRE first launched we have published several different types of blogs: general updates, new equipment, car reviews, but by far our favourite type is when we’re announcing a new fleet addition and that’s exactly what this is!

EV HIRE’s self drive hire foundations were formed in the performance SUV category, with our Tesla Model X P100D with Ludicrous PLUS mode and autopilot (a car that is still with us and has proved to be one of our strongest rentals). A few months ago you may remember we added to this with a brand new 2019 Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG for self-drive hire in London. The G63 AMG is of course a completely different proposition to the Model X P100DL, but, unsurprisingly, has also proved to be very popular thanks to it’s unique charm found in it’s outrageous power-train coupled with it’s imperious aesthetic and Mercedes-Benz luxury. Even though these two car’s make a fine performance SUV fleet in themselves, we at EV HIRE are always trying to push the bar and show that we offer a superior line-up in comparison to other hire companies. That is why we have added a brand new, 2019 Lamborghini Urus for self drive hire in London to our fleet!

Before we get into the fantastic specification of our car, let’s remind ourselves about some of the impressive headline figures. The Urus defies Lamborghini convention with a front-mid mounted bi-turbo, 4 litre V8, which produces 650hp and 850nm of torque. Despite the rather high kurb weight of the Urus, it’s power-train can still catapult it from 0-62mph in just 3.6s and it can keep going all the way to 190mph or 305kph.

The Urus is fitted with a variable 4 wheel drive and 4 wheel steer system from the Aventador S and Huracan Evo (after some adjusting), that results in much sharper cornering at both low and high speeds. At the rear we find a Torsen torque vectoring differential set centrally that performs 2 functions: Firstly, it allows for a real-wheel bias of 60% that can be increased to 85% depending on which drive mode is selected. This variability caters for a variety of driving situations and moods. Secondly, its ‘torque vectoring’ ability allows the car to send power to individual wheels to further complement the 4-wheel steer system in creating a more precise cornering experience. The Urus therefore has the performance and the dynamic aesthetic, but it’s also seriously capable and adaptable.

Our Urus is finished in Giallo Auge, a solid Yellow paint that offers a deep, yet bright finish (hence it’s nickname ‘BumbleBee’). We’ve also gone for the Gloss Black Style Package and matte finished quad exit sports exhaust that helps to compliment the already aggressive nature of the Urus. A car’s wheels can make or break a specification, which is why we selected the optional 22 inch Nath rims.

When you look inside our Urus you find an equally dynamic and high specification interior. We’ve chosen the optional black Q Citura quilted leather and embroidered headrests on the sports seats for more of a luxurious finish, with the optional Giallo Taurus contrast stitching around the cabin and wheel. The contrast stitching and embroidery help to create a bright, yet tasteful interior aesthetic, so we opted for piano black inlays to offer an equally clean and crisp, yet luxurious finish. When you’re comfortably seated inside the Urus you will be able to have up to 4 friends or family members join you as our car comes with the optional 5 seat layout. You will then be able to use the car’s built-in HD satnav to navigate to your selected destinations or sit back and enjoy the HD Advanced 3D Bang and Olufsen sound system. When you become more familiar with the car you’ll then be able to try out the different driving modes from the optional ANIMA and Ego selectors for Strada, Sport and Corsa and terrain specific driving modes, where the Urus will even lower by 10mm for enhanced stability, the exhaust valves will open and the carbon ceramic disc brakes at each corner will give you more and reassurance and confidence when braking.

The addition of the Urus means we now have the silent assassin in the Model X, the imperious brute in the G63 AMG and now the sleek, Super Sports SUV in the Urus.
