OUR VERY OWN "EV STIG" TALKS TESLA MODEL X P100DL "LUDICROUS PLUS"

Good Morning, Afternoon or Evening (totally dependant on when you’re here), but the most important element is that you’re here. And what a car we have! The 2017 Tesla Model X P100D Ludicrous Plus. A hell of a mouthful, and when you plant your right foot on the accelerator, also a hell of a handful! An incredibly unassuming vehicle to those not ‘in the know’, but for car fans across the world, Tesla have famously become ‘rip your face off fast’ thanks to Elon Musk’s extreme dreams and ability to pull them off in grand fashion and style. Who doesn’t want to support a man who made it a priority in sending his own two seater sports car into space with his very own rocket. 

There’s no denying that we have a very exciting future with Tesla, and we at EV Hire have always been a fan of what Tesla have produced. We like to think we are the No.1 Tesla Hire company in the U.K today. Having owned our Tesla from new, and immedialtey introducing it to our Hire fleet since April 2017, we have been pleased to receive such fantastic feedback from so many customers who either used our car for an extended test drive experience, or just wanted to experience what the electric future felt like. And let’s just set the record straight, the P100D Model X is no one trick pony, with bags of tech, up to 7 seats and power delivery to embarrass most supercars, this really is a special car that we believe everyone must experience once in their car life! 

Let’s start with the stats to get our head around what this machine is capable of. Taking into consideration the Model X weights 2.5 tonnes, it does 0-60mph in around 2.9 seconds with over 760bhp powering all four wheels. Now, whilst those figures might look meaningless or difficult to put into context, here are some stats of a Porsche 911, everyone’s favourite sports car...

But what is the Tesla like to live with and more importantly, what is it like to drive? With EV Hire, the reality is, the Tesla Hire experience is very easy and totally adaptable to your everyday living. Tesla’s philosophy of driving is a totally new concept to what most of us are used to. The Tesla has a very intelligent mind of it’s own, with cameras and sensors surrounding the car, it thinks for you, automatically opening the door as you approach it, carefully raising the rear falcon wings to a height that allows you to enter, without smashing your doors on the roof of the multi-story car park you’ve parked in. Not only that, with Tesla’s continuous update methods, you can control interior temperatures, and many basic movements of the vehicle from a mobile app!! Let’s move onto the electric format and battery charging. Arguably a notion most of us are inexperienced in, and one maybe reluctant to transition across to? Well let me tell you, it’s never been easier with the Tesla charging infrastructure not only just in the U.K., but all around Europe. As default, Tesla’s gigantic iPad inspired centre console will display Tesla’s supercharge points which if you haven’t already noticed, are taking over service centres up and down the country. You can recharge up to 70% of the car’s battery in under 30 minutes meaning it’s super quick for an additional bit of juice! This means you can treat most journeys as if you’re driving a normal petrol or diesel car, but better still (if you get excited about productivity), you begin to plan your journeys way better in the Tesla than a normal car requiring regular petrol fill ups. Catch up on emails, messages or jump back into the game you had on pause from the night before. All completely safely as you statically recharge the car. If you fancy a stroll, head into the service station for a coffee or a general leg stretching session. The activities and opportunities available during this charge period is a totally new concept to most of us, but I have to say having experienced this car and the electric car lifestyle, I am seriously excited by the future! 

How does it drive? An effortless and peacefully quiet SUV. What did you expect? It’s comfy with the world’s coolest windscreen. The silence is welcome too, you’ll commonly find yourself not even listening to music and just wafting along in complete silence as you smuggly look across at the person next to you smiling that you’re driving a Tesla and they’re not. Unless you’re in California. Then the chances of you looking across and finding another Tesla owner is VERY high. This isn’t a trend, it’s happening and we’re excited about it!
