Welcoming the Lamborghini Huracan LP610-4 to the EV Hire blog!

Not only are we welcoming the Lamborghini, but we’re also welcoming a familiar face from the online Supercar world, known online as ‘SupercarsofLondon’, we’ve been chatting to Paul Wallace about all things Lamborghini V10’s because let’s face it, there’s probably no one better qualified! 

Before we discuss with Paul his favourite features on the Huracan, let’s breeze over what the car is, my experiences with the Huracan as the ‘EV Stig’, and why the Huracan is a game-changer in the Supercar world. Lamborghini Hire has been prominent across the world for decades! And it’s easy to see why these cars are so popular. The dramatic asthetics, the commanding road presence and the screaming free revving engines that get wedged in by specialists in Italy, sitting inches away from the driver and passenger are all part of the Lamborghini experience. 

The ultimate way to experience a Lamborghini is from the driver’s seat, and I’ve been lucky enough to pilot a couple of the flagship Huracan, the LP610-4. 610bhp, 4 wheel drive, albeit heavily rear wheel biased. The greatest story I have is driving a very early 2014 Huracan, right after Lamborghini launched the car at the Geneva Motorshow. I’ll be honest, I was nervous. Lamborghini’s of old had character. They’d punch you in the back of the head on each gearshift, pull your face off during full throttle, and give you a full body workout trying to pitch it through corners as you hold onto the steering wheel praying you’d make it out the other side. Now the Huracan shares many components to that of the current generation Audi R8 V10 Plus. A car Audi have actively been promoting as an ‘everyday Supercar’. That’s not what we’re used to from Lamborghini, so yes...I was nervous for Lamborghini when I got handed the keys to a Huracan for the first time. Needless to say, I was blown away with the whole package. It felt special, fast, manageable but most importantly still a Lamborghini. There was enough Audi for you to feel comfortable in it’s reliability, but plenty of Lamborghini to make your hairs spike and set goosebumps off across your body. 

But what’s it like to drive on a regular basis? Lamborghini Hire is a truly special experience that allows you to ‘live with’ these wild beasts. We chatted to Paul Wallace from SupercarsofLondon to find out just how special Huracans are: 

EV Stig: Can you summarise the Huracan experience into a short sentence? 

PW: I’ll give it a go, but the Huracan is an intense emotional rollercoaster! From the moment you hold the key, and unlock the car flashing the car’s demonic headlight hazard warning lights. The car looks possessed and you immediately feel intimidated!

EV Stig: Is it one of the best cars you’ve driven? 

PW: Hands Down one of the greatest! The platform is so good. Combine that 5.2 naturally aspirated V10 with the dual clutch gearbox, I’m not sure there are better experiences out there! The 610-4 provides a safety net for those a little less experienced in the Supercar world and I would 100% say it’s a perfect entry into experiencing a Supercar. 

EV Stig: Have you got any stand out memorable moments from owning yours? 

PW: I spent a lot of time in Europe in my car, and covered over 6,000 miles in 6 months so I drove it a lot and used it how it’s supposed to be used. But there was always something special about driving that car in the U.K. Any Lamborghini commands attention and it acts as a magnet for people. You’ll have conversations with people you’d never normally talk to when you’re out and about, and the smiles it brings to everyone’s faces is such a cool feeling. I love Lamborghini’s because to me it captures the essence of why we love cars. It brings people together, makes people smile and creates stories for everyone.
