BMW ANNOUNCES SURGING MINI EV SALES

BMW Group, the owner of iconic British marque MINI, has announced a sharp increase in sales of the all-electric MINI Cooper SE. The MINI EV saw sales almost double in 2021, making it the most popular current model in the entire MINI range.
Nearly 35,000 MINI Cooper SEs were sold worldwide in 2021, meaning that, including PHEV variants, every third customer for the three-door MINI bought a locally emissions-free vehicle.
Although the UK remains the largest market for the brand globally, BMW has reported that Germany saw the biggest demand for the all-electric MINI Cooper SE with sales of almost 10,000. The race to zero-carbon transportation continues in Norway where 96 per cent of all new MINIs delivered in 2021 had an electric or PHEV drivetrain.
“The excellent overall result and the fact that every tenth MINI is fully electric show that our strategy for the future is setting the right priorities,” said Head of MINI Brand Bernd Körber. ”The MINI community is growing, and it is moving towards electromobility with great strides.”
